Estimating Adult Weight
One of the most frequently asked questions that
we hear is " How big will these puppies get?"
Some people put very high importance in buying
a pup that will reach a specific target weight.
There are those breeders who claim that their puppies will not exceed a
particular weight, however, we are not one of them. We do our very best to give an
estimated size range, but we feel it is impossible to predict with certainty what size a dog
will mature to. There are many factors which we consider in estimating adult weight.
The weight of the parents is very useful, however various pups
from the same litter often finish at different sizes. We also
follow a weight chart and find that it is normally
fairly accurate.
Lastly, doubling a pups weight at 12 weeks plus or minus 10%,
should give you a general idea of how large the pup will be.
A Note about Teacups......

Be very careful when seeking a 'teacup' pup. The simple truth is
that there is no OFFICIAL classification for a teacup size, and it is not a
recognized term in most Kennel Clubs. This means that the word 'teacup' is
open to interpretation, as there is no set size limit.
Some breeders have advertised 6 and 7 lb pups as teacups, when in fact, that
is an average weight for many toy dogs.
